Sam Brown, singer, songwriter, musician, performer is back. She will be headlining at the September Song Festival at The Borderline on 15th September. The event will be streamed live on the September Song web site. www.septembersong.co.uk
Sam is the child of 1960s, highly respected pop stars Joe and Vicki Brown; so the chances of Sam not following in the family trade were remote. She started to work professionally as a singer at the tender age of 12 and by 15 had raised enough money to finance her own demo. In 1988 Sam hit the big time when debut album sold over 2.5 million copies, the title single STOP going straight to the top of the charts in Britain and around the globe. However, Sam became disillusioned by the way the big record companies tried to mold her and her image, not her musical ability and consequently Sam turned her back on the big bucks and retired to Scotland to make music her way. Among the many people she has sung with are Elton John, Tina Turner, The Small Faces. She has appeared as a featured singer on Pink Floyds world tour and has sung duets with Fish, Gabrielle and Jools Holland. The albums 43 Minutes, April Moon and Box were all released independently. Never being a stickler for convention Sam will be releasing her next album exclusively on Britains first Internet Record Label Mudhut. For further information contact www.mudhut.co.uk |
